Nima Zaare Nahandi: Le Premier
Dastan presents a solo exhibition of works by Nima Zaare Nahandi titled “Le Premier” at Dastan+2. The exhibition will open on Friday, August 7, 2020, and will be on display for public viewing until August 28. His second solo show at Dastan, this exhibition features acrylic, watercolor, pencil drawings, and fine art prints on paper. Currently living and working in Tehran, Nima Zaare Nahandi (b. 1983, Tehran) graduated in Pure Mathematics from University of Tehran (2005, Tehran), continued his education in arts at the Ecole Nationale Des Beaux Arts (2010, Paris), and completed a two-year residency at Casa de Vèlazquez (2012, Madrid) where he developed his personal style and artistic practice. His painting process can be considered as a study, in which the artist’s delicate technique and exacting details emerge as the result of months of patient work, with a single work sometimes taking over a year to complete. Three of the pieces exhibited in this presentation, “le Premier”, “Rearrangement”, and “Delectation”, were previously shown in a solo exhibition by the artist at Galerie Nathalie Obadia (Paris, 2019). Nima Zaare Nahandi defines these pieces as “schematic representations of the evolution of human mental capacities”. Following his methodical approach to artistic creation, the artist unfolds the intellectual framework culminating in the formation of ‘‘le Premier” in a detailed analysis of his visual elements. In addition to a number of more recent works, the current exhibition includes a full-text version of the artist’s statement titled “Le Premier”, which will be available both at the gallery and online.
