+2 is proud to present paintings of Morteza Pourhosseini titled "In-Between", opening December 24, 2021. The exhibition will be on view until Friday January 07, 2022. "In-Between" puts on display 6 paintings ("First Love", "Before the Fall", "Beholding a Zodiacal Light", "The Three Magi under a Boswellia", "The Dead Sea", "Holy Fear") and is Morteza Pourhosseini's first exhibition with +2.

Works of the artist frame his contemporary characters within the tradition of religious iconography of northern Europe. Their covered eyes, gazes that are lowered or behold the horizon, their pliant bodies, point to an incident – an incident that has taken place and whose consequences are yet to come to light. The grey of the sky gives the landscape an alien character, as if none of the figures belong to it and they are in transit. The choice of the title "In-Between" seems to emphasize this sense of being on the threshold, "They are just one step from the Fall and the faceless figures are only observers." The viewer, too, is invited to wait alongside the characters for an unknown eventuality.

Morteza Pourhosseini (b. 1985, Ahvaz, Khuzestan Province, Iran) received his BA in Painting from Shahed University of Art (2010). He is a member of the Association of Iranian Painter Artists. He has held 4 solo exhibits to date and has participated in more than 50 group exhibitions and events.
