Dastan is pleased to announce Nasser Bakhshi's solo exhibition titled "Tides" at Dastan+2. The exhibition will be open on Friday, January 24, 2020, and will be open for public viewing through February 14. This is Nasser Bakhshi's first solo exhibition at Dastan. His work has been previously exhibited in more than ten solo exhibitions in Iran and abroad, as well as many group exhibitions in Tabriz, Tehran, Dubai, Istanbul, Antwerp, Warsaw, and New York. Nasser Bakhshi (b. 1982, Tabriz, Iran) started his practice instinctively and after on continued creating works in various media. The exhibition includes a series of Nasser Bakhshi's artworks in paintings, boxes and structures, which presents a wide range of his works. The title of the exhibition, "Tides", refers to the layered and fluid qualities of Bakhshi’s work, notions that form the conceptual framework of his art, i.e., the repetitive and ouroboros*-like nature of human memory. Bakhshi’s art follows the same processes that involve the memory after an occurrence which constructs a different but familiar pattern with every internal referral in the act of remembering. As Takin Aghdashloo says about the artist: "Nasser Bakhshi is an avid collector and he lives amongst his exquisite collection. The miscellaneous and abundant collection of books, magazines, paintings, sculptures, masks, clocks, boxes and a myriad of other items which includes his artworks as well. Bakshi’s artworks could be discovered by a viewer as they observe the collection. Nasser Bakhshi's structures and installations are similar to frames that bind his paintings and drawings with these found objects in the form of a box or an installation. Pieces that narrate occurrences and dreams of the artist.” * The ouroboros or uroborus is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail
